Long-awaited Last Guardian aiming for Christmas 2011

PS3 game from Ueda given tentative date; Ico and Shadow of the Colossus re-released

Sony has revealed that the long-awaited game from Fumito Ueda, The Last Guardian, will not be released until Christmas 2011.

The game follows acclaimed titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 2, both of which are to be re-released in high-definition for the PlayStation 3.

However, even the 2011 date didn't sound definite, with a spokesperson stating "that's out target," according to our sister site, Eurogamer.net.

Ueda said that he trialed a different development process on The Last Guardian, adding "it's the end of the trial and error phase of production and it's time to go into full production - crunch mode."

"that's out target,"

I'm guessing that's a typo, Matt.

Anyway, this game literally cannot come soon enough, and although all the 'delays' are a little disheartening, I know at the end of it will be a game unlike any other. Well, any other bar two that is! I'm really looking forward to playing Ico/SotC in HD again as well.

They're intending to crunch for a year? :(

Well "delays" since it was never given before a proper time frame (I think the possible 2010 release when it was first announced was made up by the media) there are no delays :)

And should they kill the little monster in the game I have to write them a very angry letter :D

Maybe some mistranslation with the crunch mode from now onwards unless the game is really big.

Good that they do a HD remake of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus so new and old gamers can enjoy the game. Especially since both had a very limited release with a small amount of copies made.
