Celebrating ten years since the arrival of its flagship title in China, publisher Nexon announced that Dungeon Fighter Online has generated lifetime revenues of over $10 billion worldwide.
Developed by Nexon subsidiary Neople, Dungeon Fighter was released first released in Korea in 2005 and quickly became a hit on PC, hitting 600 million users worldwide.
Three years later, through a deal with Tencent, the MMO launched in China; it was the fastest game to reach one million concurrent users and has a peak concurrent player count of five million.
Over the weekend, four thousand Dungeon Fighter fans were selected by lottery to attend a tenth anniversary celebration in China.
"To further strengthen its Dungeon Fighter community in China, Nexon plans to create and promote new content and materials based on the popular IP, including anime, comic books, novels and music," said Nexon in a statement.
"Dungeon Fighter's life-to-date gross revenues are now over $10 billion worldwide. This statistic demonstrates Nexon's efforts to focus on creating long-term value for customers, rather than harvesting short-term returns."
