7th Annual Mod of the Year Awards

Winners crowned.

Melbourne, Australia, March 2, 2009 - The new crème of the Mod crop has just been named, as Mod DB ( www.moddb.com) this evening announced results of its 7th Annual Mod of the Year (MOTY) Awards. The entire gaming community, including independent developers, game designers and the general public, had the opportunity to vote in what has become the premier event celebrating the world's most creatively remastered video games or 'modifications.'

Project Reality was bestowed with the top honor of Mod of the Year for modifying Battlefield 2 to create a game which is commonly considered the most realistic combat environment available for gamers.

The event also recognized outstanding creations in nine other categories. The complete list of 7th Annual Mod of the Year Awards winners are:

• Most Innovative Multiplayer (Celestial Impact)

• Best Original Art Direction (Delta Sector)

• Best Upcoming Mod (Curse)

• Best Upcoming Indie Game (Zeno Clash)

• Best Indie Game (Mount & Blade)

• Best Singleplayer Mod (The Ball)

• Best Multiplayer Mod (Project Reality)

PLAYERS CHOICE

• Best Upcoming Mod (Dead before Dawn)

• Indie Game of the Year (Mount & Blade)

• Mod of the Year (Project Reality)

"The momentum that has built up behind Modding and the Mod of the Year Awards is amazing. The quality of nominations for our annual event continues to rise and the total number of community votes that were cast for this year's winners increased by 35,000 votes as compared with last year," said Scott Reismanis, Founder, Mod DB, the event organizer. "We're proud to be hosting an event that recognizes the great works of such gifted talents and spotlights an art form that is positively influencing the video games industry."

The 7th Annual Mod of the Year Award was sponsored by the U.S. Air Force. A number of high profile prize sponsors also supported the event, including Garagegames, 3Dtotal, GOG.com, NuclearFallout, Hourences and Noesis Interactive.
