7-Eleven outlets to stock pre-owned games

US retailer partners with Game Trading Technologies to offer sub-$20 games in over 3000 stores

7-Eleven stores are to start offering pre-owned games for under $20 following the formation of a new partnership with pre-owned specialist Game Trading Technologies.

The incentive - dubbed "Great Games Under $20" - will lead to 7-Eleven selling pre-owned games in half of its stores, which is 3000 outlets across the US, to begin with.

"What this means to consumers is that they will have many convenient locations, most open 24/7, to buy value-priced video games," said Todd Hays, president and CEO of Game Trading Technologies.

"The program is available to all 7-Eleven US franchisees, and we hope to have most US stores on board by September."

"We partnered with GTT because of their experience and expertise as a third-party provider of video games and the terrific selection they'll offer to our customers," added Michael Jester, 7-Eleven category manager for gaming and electronics.

"More than 60 percent of US households now have at least one video game console, and consumers are searching for convenient ways to stretch their entertainment dollar in this challenging economy."

The GTT deal will see the company supplying 7-Eleven stores with a display containing a mixture of games on multiple platforms, all at $19.99 or below, then regularly replenishing that stock.
