The Reloaded Festival presented by Adam Internet

Adelaide – South Australia's reputation for being on the cutting edge of IT is about to get a boost, with the largest ever gathering of Australian computer gamers set to take place at the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds. The Reloaded Festival will be the biggest gaming event in Australian history and the largest LAN (local area network) Party event ever held in the southern hemisphere. The festival will feature PC and console gaming tournaments, anime displays and competitions, a digital art competition, tabletop war gaming, card gaming and role playing games.

2008 ION Game Conference

The ION Game Conference is the only annual game industry event with a laser-sharp focus on the rapidly evolving business of online game development on all its platforms. Our theme for 2008 is redefining online.
Redefining online means we're actively exploring the boundaries of online game development. Console, wireless, virtual worlds, mash-ups, mobile, casual games - all of these categories intersect with online gaming.
The 2nd Annual ION Game Conference, to be held May 13-15, 2008 in Seattle, Washington, will bring online game developers and business leaders together to celebrate and further the online game ecosystem.

Game Republic: Games, gamers and demographics

A panel discussion that explores the relationship between games and gamers, touching upon the creative process, feedback loops with gamers (does this happen often enough?) and are we, as an industry, reaching out to the masses with our products? The full names of the panel are still be confirmed, but so far we have Ed Bradley from Ignition Entertainment, Jamie Sefton from Future Publishing, Margaret Robertson (a freelance writer, consultant and games designer) and a representative from Zoe Mode. Its free attend, will offer great networking opportunities as well as food and drink to fuel debate.

MMOG-Fest

To celebrate the launch of Staffordshire University's new award 'Multiplayer Online Games Design', The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology are hosting a 2 day conference on all aspects of the growing field of study that includes MMOGs and Virtual or Persistent Worlds – from the industry, academic, technological and the individual perspective.

The scope of the 2 day conference is broad, encompassing the many angles of the current state of play of massive multiplayer games, in all their forms.

DevStation

DevStation08 is a two-day conference, dedicated to
providing information on getting the most out of PlayStation 3.

Presentations focus around the core technologies and features of PS3 and for the first time, we are providing content for all disciplines (design, production, art, audio and programming), with focus on physics, SPU optimization and audio tricks right through to the latest developments in the PlayStation Network.

Game Education Summit 2008

Game industry leaders and educators from across the country will gather in Dallas at Southern Methodist University June 10 and 11 to try and develop future programs to solve what many experts say is the video game industry’s number one problem … a critical shortage of skilled professionals. The purpose of the summit is for educators to hear from industry leaders what skill sets will be required to meet the needs of a $18 billion entertainment sector and a growing serious game industry. Sessions will cover topics such as teaching methodologies, starting a game development program, core curriculum topics, research collaboration and increasing diversity. Women In Games

The Women In Games conference encourages research and seeks to promote careers for women within the games industry. Making this career path attractive from a female perspective doesn't just make good business sense, it's vital both commercially and artistically.

A major theme of Women in Games 2008 is exploring ways of encouraging more women to enter games and increase their prominence across the industry, ultimately demonstrating how the female perspective can provide a rich new angle on the gaming experience. Other themes will focus on the latest game research with a particular emphasis on areas that affect, or are affected by, women.

Men are welcome too! Although this conference is concerned with women and games please note that men are also very welcome to attend. The industry needs a meaningful dialogue between the sexes as it moves forward.

Virtual Worlds Forum Europe 2008

Building on the success of last year's inaugural forum - Europe's first major virtual worlds conference - with over 480 delegates from 23 countries, this year will see an enlarged event featuring a new London venue, a significant increase in the number of supporting organisations, as well as a raft of new show elements.

The congress and expo is adopting the theme 'Enterprise, Education and Entertainment - harnessing virtual worlds for twenty-first century advantage'. It is to take place at The Bridge, London SE1, on 6-7 October, with workshops to follow on 8 October.
