| Job Description | Our Client is a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for games consoles and PCs. Our client has designed some of the most popular video games of all time. Since the beginning of the video game revolution, many of the most notable, best-selling video games for both the arcade and home game systems have come from our Client. These releases include revolutionary, record-breaking games and popular franchises world-wide. These games have set the standard for excellence in the industry, capturing the attention of millions of players around the world. Our Client is headquartered in the US with additional facilities though out the US, Europe and the UK. OVERVIEW The Studio Audio Director works with the other studio directors to ensure quality product delivered on time and on budget. The Studio Audio Director is ultimately responsible for the audio getting done for all games in the studio as well as the quality of the audio in all games in the studio. It is CRITICAL that the Audio director is a proven leader capable of mentoring and growing their team while working closely with the other studio directors to deliver a top quality game. Functional responsibilities: Responsible for developing strong, self-sufficient project team directors: o Have regular 1-1 meetings with direct reports to provide accurate and timely performance feedback o Identify training/development opportunities o Coach/mentor direct report about how deal with staff issues o Work with the audio team and production to develop realistic schedules and budgets Responsible for the overall quality of the work produced in all areas of audio is all games developed in the Studio: o Maintain Quality and Schedule on the projects in development. o Participate in high-level reviews & give directors feedback to filter back to the team o Must be a strong leader for the Audio team Responsible for fostering communication between functional groups: o Understand the motivations and goals of the other studio directors o Work with other studio directors to resolve cross-group conflicts o Identify opportunities for greater efficiency in processes/workflow o Must be a leader within the studio as a whole Responsible for staffing needs in functional area: o Understand the needs of the teams and project directors o Ensure that the teams are staffed appropriately (right balance of skills, etc.) Responsible for helping the studio achieve its goals: o Participate in SKU planning o Ensure that functional group is delivering on time, on budget and to the agreed upon level of quality o Actively seek to improve the efficiency of processes and workflow o Review and give feedback on new project concepts o Help to build a positive studio culture o Be a champion for Audio quality and overall game quality within the studio ESSENTIAL SKILLS Ability to manage resources across multiple development teams Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment Must possess strong leadership skills to lead the audio team Proficient with modern studio equipment and techniques Proficient with MS Office suite, especially Excel Deep knowledge of gaming audio hardware capabilities required Must posses the ability to effectively direct creative and technical resources DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience with Unreal is a huge plus, but not a requirement Must have performed as Audio Director or Audio Lead on at least 5 shipped titles Must have a minimum of 7 years experience as an in-house audio resource |
