Job Description Our Client is a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for games consoles and PCs. Our client has designed some of the most popular video games of all time. Since the beginning of the video game revolution, many of the most notable, best-selling video games for both the arcade and home game systems have come from our Client. These releases include revolutionary, record-breaking games and popular franchises world-wide. These games have set the standard for excellence in the industry, capturing the attention of millions of players around the world. Our Client is headquartered in the US with additional facilities though out the US, Europe and the UK.

Seeking a highly talented individual to exploit the industry-leading Unreal 3 Engine for upcoming games. Applicant should be highly technical, driven and self-motivated, and must have experience in working with both programmers and artists to establish best practices for creating game art that works well within the limitations of a game engine, with helping programmers develop tools and pipelines that help artists achieve their maximum potential, and with documentation of these tools and practices.
Job Description:

Works closely with programmers, artists and leads to establish best practices for creating art for a triple-A console game. This includes establishing performance and memory guidelines for characters, environments, interactive objects and special effects, as well as documenting and communicating these guidelines, and actively working with artists to insure compliance. Duties also include assisting in the development of new tools and pipeline refinements for maximum artist efficiency and minimum artist frustration, and potentially managing other technical artists depending on evolving project requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in R + D and discovery of best practices for artists, including memory and performance limitations of game engine as it evolves.

• Assist and support programmers in developing tools and pipelines for artists.

• Document all information required for artists to be effective in their jobs.

• Work closely with artists and monitor their efforts for compliance with established best practices.

• Help artists diagnose and fix technical problems resulting from potential errors in content or unknown limitations of technology.

• Possible management of additional tech artists, to be defined as project evolves

• Meet project deadlines / milestones as set by project leads

• Actively participate in meetings as required

Requirements:

• Ability to model and texture in 3D.

• High degree of technical aptitude; ability to communicate effectively with software engineers.

• Experience with documentation of technical systems developed for video games.

• Minimum of three years of applicable industry experience.

• Strong technical aptitude related to 3D modeling tools and game engine technologies.

• Fluent knowledge of Maya.

• Experience with programming or scripting languages a plus.

• Prior management experience a plus.

• Must perform well within a collaborative team environment.

• Thick skin a plus; candidate will be dealing largely with complaints about the technology and pipeline
