Job Description Are you an imaginitive and creative thinker that can provide innovative solutions to design challenges, who is also an industry veteran with the know-how to drive them to completion?

Our client, a leading developer and publisher of video games on the internation stage, is seeking a highly talented and experienced Lead Technical Designer for their Chicago studio. If successful, you will collaborate with their design team in the creation of a new action game for next-gen consoles.

If you’re a hands-on individual with strong leadership skills, technical background, and are confident you can motivate your team to address challenges and implement solutions, they want to hear from you today.


Main responsibilities:-

* Leading a team of up to 12 designers in the conception and implementation of all game features, including sub-leads.
* Providing direction to the team in the creation of innovative game mechanics and an engaging player experience.
* Maintaining a collaborative relationship with the art, tech and audio team members.
* Architecting the creation of all design documentation.
* Generation of schedules for design team members.
* Hiring of new design team members.
* Working closely with the Executive Producer and projects Creative Director on the quality, focus and scope of the game over the course of development.
* Hands-on prototyping of game content during concept development phase.


Essential skills/experience:-

* At least 6 years as a designer or equivalent in the game industry.
* One or more shipped titles in a lead design role that includes direct reports.
* Demonstrated knowledge of design concepts and the ability to apply them to real-world design challenges.
* Strong technical design skills such as level segmentation design and streaming volumes.
* Strong level scripting background. Unreal 3’s Kismet experience a big plus.
* Experience with creating games for consoles, including experience with the submission and approval processes.
* Solid scheduling and organizational skills, as well as clear “people skills”.
* Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Visio, Photoshop, Wiki, Flash, or Maya.
* A finger on the pulse of the everyday game-buyer, including a sense of what is cool and what makes a successful game.
* Keen knowledge of an abundance of different genres and gameplay mechanics, inspired by a long-time love of games.
