Job Title Lead Level Designer

Job Description Based in the North East and founded in early 1997 my client has developed a niche as a developer of high quality multi platform titles, with several million sellers in its portfolio. My client is looking for a multi-faceted, industry experienced individual to fill the critical path of Lead Level Designer.

Reporting directly to the Creative Director the main responsibility will be to make the most of the game by leading the Level Design Team to produce content that utilizes all the features and assets that are created in the best way possible.

The preferred candidate will have a strong drive to compete with the best, to take ownership of features and drive them to completion and work well in a team environment.

Functional responsibilities:
•Lead, mentor, motivate, manage and give feedback to the Level Design Team
•Liaise with the other team leads to get the best solution to designs
•Clearly communicate the design vision to team and make sure its followed
•Ensure quality and budgets of the missions and the environments
•Drive specific features from design to completion

Skills required:
•Excellent management skills
•Excellent communication skills, both within the design department and across
discipline, as well as good understanding of development processes of
other disciplines
•Understanding of what makes a game “fun”
•Excellent understanding of the other aspects of design; controls, reward
systems, limitations etc.

Skills desired:
•Previous Unreal development experience is a significant advantage
•Experience with scripting languages
•Demonstrably strong design skills including scripting, writing, 2D mapping
and documentation
•Familiarity or expertise with Photoshop, Visio, Sketchup and other common
design tools
•Experience with 3D studio Max or similar 3D tools is a plus

Education and experience:
•Minimum 5 years of experience as a Level Designer
•Minimum 2 shipped games with one in the role of Lead Level Designer
