Job Title German Localisation Project Manager

Job Description One of the leading providers of localisation services to the games and mobile industry are seeking a German-speaking Project Manager

The position will involve in-house translating, combined with project management tasks, and the use of translation tools such as Wordfast and participation in a wide range of other activities

Main duties and responsibilities:
·Responding to outside enquiries concerning linguistic assessments relating to translation and localisation
·The training of checkers, translators, proofreaders
·Commissioning, editing, inputting, proof-reading and preparation of material
·Responsible for assisting with the translation and localisation work
·Checking and despatch of material
·Assisting with checking and quality assurance
·Maintenance of databases
·Assisting with quality control of material
·Archiving and storage of materials
·Dealing with communications and personal callers relating to the above and maintaining data on the same
·Developing the scope of the translation and localisation work.
·Basic IT support
·Reviewing translations of documents prepared by others:- reviewing original and translated document to ensure accuracy- discussing difficulties with translator to determine appropriate solutions to problems discovered- proofreading text to ensure that corrections have been accurately entered and to ensure that there are no grammatical or spelling errors.
·Assisting other translators who may lack training in fully understanding concepts and the principles of games localisation so that they can produce good translations that implement the various TRC's and glossaries:- discussing general principles with translators- discussing particular texts and provisions with translators including discussing ways to develop appropriate terminology- discuss possible approaches to various texts and dealing with difficult translation problems- assist in the production and use of glossaries
·Other such duties as are within the job purpose and at the Board’s Discretion

Skills required
·Knowledge and experience in the translation environment
·Awareness of financial implications of actions
·Awareness of marketing implications of actions
·Report writing
·People skills
·Computer literacy, word processing, database handling, record keeping, good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PPT, PDF
·Identify problems in the text to be translated or issues that arise in producing a localised version of the text
·IT skills

Personal requirements
·A reasonable degree of the usual personal requirements associated with management of projects; i.e. accuracy, numeracy, literacy, effective communication, prioritisation of tasks and meeting deadlines, initiative, quality control, eye for detail, ability to work unsupervised, efficiency, integrity, discretion
·Ability to perform the role of a good ambassador for the organisation at all times

Salary to be confirmed but will be based on experience and is in the region outlined.
