OPM is delighted to be working with this developer of epic action adventure games. Based in Sweden, the studio is well-known to gamers world-wide from their critically acclaimed and award-winning open-world action games.

As a Senior UI Artist/Designer, you will produce a solid style guide for the entire UI that is cohesive throughout the entire User Interface and HUD ensuring consistency across the board. You will both produce concepts, prototypes, and implementations of the graphical front end and use, review and feedback the work of rest of the UI team. You will work closely with the Design team to determine the functionality and features of the user interface, with the Art team to maintain a consistent art style between the user interface and the rest of the game and with the Code team to ensure the implementation matches the intention.

You will push the boundaries of UI design, thinking Next Gen consoles and not 3 years ago. You have the ability to consider issues from numerous angles (Design/Art/Code) and takes efficient actions. You have organizational skills that utilize the development process cycle and a flexible approach to all aspects of working.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional UI design experience from at least one released AAA console game, through a full development cycle
  • An abiding love of open-world action games
  • Graphic Design Skills
  • Typography/layout skills
  • Motion Graphic skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Flash
  • Willingness to push the boundaries of UI design
  • Thorough knowledge of flow/function/form and UI progression
  • Ability to embrace the needs of players through UI/UX design ensuring a seamless experience
  • Understanding the need for form and function working together as a unit
  • An appreciation for dynamic effects like particle systems or procedural modelling (maybe you don’t have the scripting experience to develop a chaotic system on your own, but you can produce strong concepts in collaboration with a UI programmer)
  • Some scripting ability, preferably in ActionScript or Python
  • Demonstrable appreciation of UI hurdles for PC versus console
