Certification Engineer.

Do you enjoy entertainment and gaming? Are you experienced in the software development lifecycle? My esteemed client is seeking a Software Development Engineer with a Test background who can step up to the challenge of performing certification for Xbox and Xbox LIVE content.

This role requires a dependable, self-managed, and versatile individual who can manage the outsourced certification test process. The position also necessitates ongoing cross-group collaboration with internal and external partners as they approach releases and prepare for certification. Furthermore, there is a need for software development education and experience with the ability to identify opportunities for automation and drive test matrix reduction.

You’ll be asked to become an expert on their technical requirements and assist partners with training on how best to meet those requirements. Good communication and collaboration skills are a must, as we work closely every day with both internal and external partners around the globe. As an SDET in this role, a primary responsibility of this position is working with a test vendor who performs certification testing that validates adherence to TCRs (Technical Certification Requirements). The testing has to be performed efficiently and quickly without sacrificing quality of the app, game, or service being certified. In addition, you will support developers by answering questions in email as well as forums regarding their title and whether its design and features adhere to TCRs. While performing this work, the worldwide consistency of the testing is paramount given the Xbox certification is a global business. To ensure this consistency, there will be audits and metrics that you will also drive in this position.

A successful candidate must bring several years of experience in software and hardware test, strong technical skills, development/programming skills and proven test automation skills to the position. Suitable candidates should have knowledge of the games industry as well as a demonstrated set of excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Build programs and processes that drive improvements in partner performance, and enable partners to pass certification 1st time.
  • Help drive the training efforts in-region, set training priorities and deliver successful training and education programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships, and prepare the partners for successful certification. Drive education and adoption for the right implementation.
  • Work closely with the worldwide Certification team ensuring consistency for all processes and procedures to make certain that there is worldwide uniformity.
  • Work globally to ensure that Certification processes and business objectives are consistent and mutually beneficial to the company and their development and publishing partners.
  • Drive test efficiencies and costs saving efforts.
