A well-established UK developer is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Services Tools Developer to work on the next title in its successful IP. Demonstrating a passion for high quality work in an agile environment, the ideal candidate will be able to develop a multitude of tools to support the management of assets, data and online services.

The role will focus on producing, managing and administering tools and web-based applications to reinforce development, as well as the development of game services.



Key Requirements:

Development of tools in the areas of,

  • Ensuring usability of supporting tools whilst maintaining high quality and minimising technical debt
  • Development of tools to support asset management, data management and online service monitoring
  • Technical design and implementation of scalable and highly available game services and infrastructure
  • Development of highly testable services
  • Work closely with users, designers and developers to create efficient workflows for the management and operation of key online services
  • Create and maintain lightweight technical documentation where necessary
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders




Key Criteria:

  • Effective communication and task prioritisation resolution
  • Studio productivity is improved and maintained at a high level during Production
  • Blocking issues and bugs are fixed promptly and correctly
  • Tools and middleware solutions are identified and used where appropriate




Essential Experience:

  • Experience of implementing web applications with C#, ASP.NET MVC 4+, HTML5, CSS & JavaScript
  • Experience with scripting languages, particularly PowerShell and Windows batch scripts
  • Experience with MSBuild
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems
  • Experience working with Visual Studio 2012+ and TFS
  • Proven experience of working with users to define and refine requirements
  • Experience of developing responsive, usable and clean user interfaces
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to work with existing codebases and middleware tools frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Working in an Agile/SCRUM environment as part of a multidisciplinary team


Desired Experience:

  • Practical experience of current Web UI frameworks
  • Windows network architecture/Active Directory
  • Cloud technologies, such as Azure
  • Big data technologies such as Azure Table Store and Blob
  • Visual programming, eg with Visual Studio’s XAML editor
  • Understanding of SQL and database systems
  • Splicing (taking designs from a PSD and creating the necessary images for the site)
  • Selenium Testing
  • Twitter Bootstrap
  • LESS/SASS CSS frameworks
  • JQuery / jQueryUI
  • Use of performance tooling such as YSlow
  • ASP.NET Web Forms
  • YetAnotherForum.net




Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of python, C#/.NET (Javascript/HTML5 a plus)
  • Extensive experience of C++.
  • Some knowledge of SQL and DB systems a plus.
  • Experience of GUI toolkits such as Qt.
  • Understanding of cloud systems, including MS Azure.
  • Effective debugging skills
