Junior Systems Administrator.

My client are a Games development studio in the North of the UK and they are looking to recruit a junior systems administrator to support the IT department by performing a wide variety of daily tasks in addition to responding to staff/users IT requests. You will also be responsible for implementing systems configuration tasks e.g. hardware builds (PC), server (Nagios) status monitoring and response, backup rotations etc.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong Linux system administration – Debian preferable, but not essential
  • Comprehensive understanding of internet technologies under Linux i.e. Exim, apache, iptables
  • Linux scripting skills, e.g. bash, Perl
  • Will have hands on hardware experience, e.g. PC build and repair
  • Self-starter with excellent communications skills
  • Will be familiar with a structured approach to problem investigation, documentation and resolution – experience of 3nd line support would be ideal.


Desirable Skills:

  • Configuration Management (Puppet/FAI)
  • Perl OO
  • Windows Server 2008 R2, Active Directory
  • VMWare vSphere/vCloud etc.
  • AWS and related
  • Jira or other bug tracking software
