OPM are delighted to be working with this studio in the north east of England.

They are currently looking for an experienced UI Artist / Graphic Designer to its team. The Studio is currently working on an online shooter enhanced through the use of Virtual Reality hardware and is entering new territory for mainline games development. For this ground-breaking project they are looking for a confident and talented individual to take on responsibility for all the User Interface and Frontend requirements.

You will need good communication skills to work efficiently within a small team following both the Technical and Artistic guidelines. You will be responsible for keeping all areas of the UI moving forward through from placeholder to final and the flexibility to adapt priorities to changing requirements. You will produce AAA standard work and constantly seek new ways of pushing the boundaries in the area of UI systems within VR environments. You will be working within a small, talented group of games professionals and require the ability to work closely with Engineers, Artists and Designers alike to design/produce UI graphics and assets to the highest standards

Responsibilities include:

  • HUD systems, menus and frontend
  • Working closely with engineers to implement UI
  • Provide design support to the development team
  • Communicate and provide visualisations to a variety of audiences
  • Marketing support with graphics and website design

Experience / Skills Required:

  • 2d and 3d software experience including: Photoshop, Motion Graphics/flash experience
  • Extensive experience of working on AAA console and/or pc titles in a UI role
  • Two or more shipped titles for console and/or pc
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current UI solutions
  • Experience of other game development areas
  • Maya/Max, Video FX
  • Familiar with agile scrum methodologies
  • Interest in Virtual Reality for games

A portfolio of UI examples is required to be considered for this role (including WiP and Final).
