My client are looking for a Tools Programmer to join the Programming team.

The ideal candidate is expected to have proven experience within a similar role be an exceptionally creative problem solver an excellent communicator a positive role model and always shows high levels of enthusiasm and a talent for creating great software.

The Tools Programmer role involves programming a wide variety of tools to support the development of game titles.

The candidate requires outstanding technical knowledge and know-how of effective software engineering processes in order to create leading-edge customer focussed tools. The candidate must have excellent organisation and a degree of experience in self-scheduling his/her tasks.

This role will report to the Senior Tools Programmer working alongside him or her to determine the requirements for tools in order to effectively support the game title(s) in production.

Role Responsibilities:
-Develop high-quality robust and easy-to-use tools applications in a variety of languages and technologies.
-Conform with coding standards.
-Ensure that all tools (& APIs where relevant) are documented to a high-standard both end-user documentation and technical documentation for other Programmers.
-Ensure that your work is delivered in a timely manner as per agreed schedules.
-Working alongside your line manager liaise with customers to understand and prioritise the requirements for tools – whether that is the requirement for new applications or additions optimisations or modifications to existing applications.
-Fixing bugs which are assigned to you. Prioritise high priority bugs and ensure that these are promptly fixed and ensure that lower priority bugs are also fixed in an appropriate time-frame.
-Ensuring that code check-ins are robust comply with the check-in policies and do not negatively impact other code or applications.

Role Requirements:
-At least 2 shipped videogame titles.
-Proven programming experience in the games industry.
-Experience in a variety of programming languages and technologies suited to developing tools applications in an effective manner.
-Positive and outgoing personality.
-Excellent creative problem solving abilities.
-Experience of breaking down large tasks into a comprehensive set of sub-tasks and estimating how long the tasks will take.
-Excellent organisational abilities.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent abilities in quality Software Engineering.
-Excellent bug finding and fixing skills.
-Excellent User-Interface design skills.
-Have a passion for developing high-quality software.

Major Pluses:
-Database experience (SQL MySQL).
-.NET framework programming.
-Knowledge of regular expressions.
-Batch/Shell scripting.
-Other relevant and useful technologies. Some examples are:
-Google Charts
-P4API
-XML
-HTML & CSS
-MS Office automation

Though there are thousands of relevant & useful technologies. Let us know what you know.
Hold a Degree in Computer Science Maths or similar technical qualification.
API documentation skills.
