Job Description We are currently looking for a talented Art Director to join an established team developing a next-generation title. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the quality control of multiple titles; they will oversee all aspects of production. Located on the beautiful East Coast USA – where the cost of living is significantly cheaper than the West Coast – this is an awesome opportunity to create AAA titles in the beautiful Sunshine State.

The ideal candidate must be able to not only direct teams but also initially to be hands-on and produce excellent artwork too. You will need to contribute anything from concept sketches and mock-ups to finished production-ready character, environment, UI, and marketing art for use in a game.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Creative Director and Producer to come up with new and exciting ideas and concepts.

• Communicate with project Associate Producers, Studio Managers, and Producers to define and collaborate on the aesthetic vision for a given title.

• Collaborate with the production team to establish team strategy for developing future games, providing input on design, art pipeline, tools, and development framework.

• Work closely with the Project Manager to create schedules.

• Must be able to help out with all aspects of a game's visual design, UI, art, animation, marketing artwork, and more.

• Work with dynamic team of Concept Artists, 3d Artists and Level Designers, both in-house, and external to the company.

• Actively manage the asset pipeline for a game with an eye toward balancing delivery constraints (budget, time, quality); proactively communicate issues to Producers.

• Supervise, mentor, and inspire teams artist and level designers, including in-house, and external to the company.

• Lead formal and informal review sessions and provide effective team feedback.

• Evaluate, review, and approve all assets created.

• Produce fantastic illustration work, contributing concept artwork and finished game-ready assets for characters, environments, UI, and marketing artwork.

• Proactively communicate with Producers and Engineering team to collaborate on design and solve problems as a team.

• Research, explore and communicate art and design best practices.

• Build a great art team by reviewing applicants’ portfolios and reels, actively seeking out suitable candidates, and interviewing applicants.

• Administer staffing decisions that help achieve both the short and long term goals of the art team.
Desired Skills & Experience

• Strong communications and organizational skills

• Able to handle a wide range of personnel issues including recruitment, career development, and conflict resolution.

• Able to manage a large team of artists in a dynamically changing game production environment.

• Able to interact as part of a team and to contribute to increasing productivity goals and efficiencies.

• 5+ years of professional and advanced leadership experience in games.

• Fantastic hands-on illustration ability, as demonstrated through art samples; Must be able to produce work in a variety of styles – from casual to realistic – and a variety of subjects, including characters, environments, props, UI elements, and more.

• Advanced knowledge of Photoshop and Max/Maya experience a plus.

• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.

• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent ability to communicate with Creative Director, Artists, Designers, Engineers and others in person and via voice, writing, and visually; Experience managing a team of artists required.

• Must give direction well and collaborate with others, must respect team’s input.

• Superb technical skills and a proven track record of producing great artwork given technical constraints and also working with engineers to ensure that artwork is properly and creatively implemented.

• A desire to grow your skills and experience; a natural mentor.

• Must be available to work on site full time in our office in Florida.


Pluses:
• Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as an Art Director or Art Lead

• Game art or content creation experience

• Expertise with Microsoft Office.

• Passionate gamer with experience playing a wide range of games.
