Job Description Jagex Ltd, the UK’s leading independent online games studio, is hunting for an exceptional and passionate Senior Tools Programmer looking to work with cutting edge technology.

Joining the Jagex Core Technologies team, you would be working with our World Editor, tools and game engine technologies. We are looking for people who have excelled in the field of computer programming to join our fast-paced team, with successful candidates being proficient in all aspects of programming and also able to code in a succinct manner.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with ambition and initiative to join a fast-paced, rapidly expanding online games company based in Cambridge and help us achieve our ambitious goals for 2012 and beyond.

Key Duties Include:
  • Developing and maintaining bespoke content creation tools using C# to the highest standards
  • Enhancing both the Tools team libraries and the Game Engine libraries
  • Researching new technology, platforms, techniques and ideas
  • Acting as lead on projects, overseeing design and development
  • Enhancing and improving the game engine

Essential Requirements:
  • High level knowledge of C# and C++
  • Strong understanding of design patterns and object oriented programming techniques
  • Strong understanding of MVC pattern and its derivatives (MVP, MVVM)
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of code design philosophies
  • Good understanding of computer graphics and computer animation technologies
  • The ability to think creatively to solve coding problems and to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, determination and flexibility
  • Game industry experience.

Desirable Requirements:
  • Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • Good understanding of GUIs and editor frameworks
  • Experience in Agile development.
  • Experience of working on networked and MMO games.
  • Knowledge of other platforms including, but not limited to, Mac OS, Linux, iOS and Android.
