| Job Description | Jagex Ltd, developer and publisher of the MMORPG adventure game RuneScape, is looking for an experienced unit leader with a thorough understanding of testing methodologies to fulfill a key role within our large QA department. The Jagex Quality Assurance department is not only responsible for finding bugs; they are also responsible for ensuring the highest quality results for a number of games. This department currently comprises over 20 testers divided across 4 specific units, and we expect this to double in size as we launch new products. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QA Unit Leader who would like to join an extremely successful company, and help take our QA department forward to meet the requirements of our fast-growing and evolving environment. Reporting to the QA Manager the QA Unit Leader will take full responsibility for a key QA unit, providing inspirational leadership to 6+ testers. Key duties include: - Leading 6+ QA game testers; - Accurately reporting team performance to the QA Manager and Operations team. - Continual revision of methods, tools and concepts employed by the QA teams; - Establishing a creative and productive environment through effective team coaching; - Ongoing appraisal of team members’ individual performances, helping them to work towards their own continuous personal development; - Working closely in alignment with the company’s overall business strategy; - Building excellent working relationships with development teams and working with team leaders to ensure the highest possible quality; - Optimising and maintaining QA processes, including bug-tracking management; - Leading by example through commitment, passion and professionalism towards Jagex and the gaming industry as a whole. Essential requirements: - Strong leadership, with relevant experience leading QA teams in the games industry; - Deep understanding of game methodologies and best QA practices; - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly and concisely to groups and individuals; - Solid problem-solving ability and insightful approach to new challenges; - Great attention to detail allied to awareness of the bigger picture; - Real interest in computer games or RPGs/MMOs. Also Useful: - Degree level education or equivalent experience; - Basic understanding of game scripting languages. Salary: £20k - £30k p.a. depending on experience, plus excellent benefits package including annual bonus, private health care and gym membership. Location: Cambridge, UK.
