Job Description This independent studio requires a talented and experienced full time Lead Environment Artist to join their multi-disciplined team based at their studio in the Midlands. As Lead Environment Artist you will work with world renowned publishers and will be specifically responsible for leading the environment art team as well as creating key game environments and assets.

  • Reporting to the Lead Artist
  • Liaise with design and coding Engineers to develop scenery
  • Create memorable and immersive game environments and props
  • Create and manage textures and materials
  • Export and review created assets on target platform making sure all elements are working correctly and to specification.
  • Implement additional gameplay elements such as special effects and mechanical animation where necessary
  • Work within a defined asset structure and associated conventions
  • Set high quality standard and mentor junior staff
  • Contribute to planning and scheduling of development

Skills & Expertise
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • A passion for games and creating environments
  • Proficient in Max or Maya, Photoshop
  • Experienced using Z-Brush
  • Experienced developing for XBOX 360 & PS3
  • Knowledge or experience of developing for iOS
  • Able to adapt to a given art style
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in professional field
  • Worked previously on a racing, story and/or quest driven game
  • Skills in the use of scripting such as Max Script, Python, Mel and CGI a plus
  • Ability to critique and provide constructive feedback
  • Able to work with a team across multiple disciplines
