Job Title Senior Programmer - Wellington, New Zealand
Job Category Programmers
Job Description Purpose:
To provide professional programming and technical services.


Major Responsibility Areas:

1.Provide professional services which are recognised as:

•highly professional and competent,

•offering a superior level of service,

•a source of value added input,

•highly proactive in carrying out its functions,

•having an understanding of Sidhe Interactive strategies/objectives and the support required to achieve these.


2.Provide software development services including but not limited to

•programming and design work on gaming and commercial products, research projects, software prototypes, middleware products, development libraries, and internal tools,

•performing testing and quality assurance,

•mentoring and managing staff as appropriate,

•producing design, development, and technical documentation as required.


3.Provide technical support services

•setup and configuration of computer hardware,

•loading and configuration of software packages,

•troubleshooting when hardware/software issues arise.


4.Contribute to the effective and efficient operations by:

•participating actively as a member of the Sidhe Interactive team,

•fostering open, two way communications at all levels.


5.Undertake projects as requested by Line Manager



Desired Experience Profile:


Knowledge/Technical expertise:


Conversant in C, C++ and various scripting languages including Perl.

Experience with the software development life cycle, and object oriented design and programming techniques

Experience in writing comprehensive technical design documentation

Understanding of and practical experience in advanced game programming techniques including advanced computer graphics, physics, and artificial intelligence

4 years or more programming experience on published videogame products across multiple platforms

Familiarity with the Windows and Linux operating environments

Tertiary Computer Science qualification


Managerial Skills:

Ability to manage, co-ordinate and communicate with other staff to achieve company goals and objectives

Superior task management and planning skills

Willing to take initiative when required and proactively troubleshoot issues

Ability to handle sensitive/confidential issues

Strong commitment to Sidhe Interactive’s long term objectives

Strong drive to achieving quality output and outcomes

Ability to produce quality product within tight deadlines

Experience in mentoring and disseminating knowledge to junior staff

Experience in managing and/or monitoring staff


People Skills:

Able to communicate effectively with a range of management levels

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
