Good knowledge of 3D Studio Max or Maya

Able to work accurately to concept material, as well as using imagination to overcome problems or constraints

A good understanding of the game production process

Prop Artist

Communication skills

Good understanding of the game production process

Ability to take concept art and recreate it in 3D including texturing

Basic understanding of animation

Ability to take direction

Excellent documentation and communication skills

Initiative

Willingness to learn new techniques and skills

Good knowledge of grass technology

Good knowledge of data files, including global.model, global.mad, propdescriptor.mat etc

Minimum 1 year experience in a 3D game development role

Tertiary education in art discipline or demonstrated equivalent

Responsibilities:

Mesh Builder

Model, texture and create collision in 3D for game environments.

Works closely with Programmers to ensure polygon counts and texture sizes are fully optimized for target platforms while minimizing any impact on artistic integrity of assets.

Participates in R&D of new techniques to implement into production pipeline.

Proactively seeks feedback from Lead Artist, Producer and Creative Director.

Ensures that artistic style is consistent with defined visual style for the game.

Utilise tools to ensure mesh assets are fully optimized for target platforms while minimising any impact on artistic integrity of assets

Prop Artist

Build props for primary and secondary characters, objects and environments

Texture props according to concept material

Ensure that props are consistent with defined visual style for the game

Utilise tools to ensure props assets are fully optimized for target platforms while minimising any impact on artistic integrity of assets

Ensure that personal work is meeting all standards (checking work, check-in procedures, build checklists etc)

Perform additional tasks as requested
