Requirements:

Responsibilities:

Lead Responsibilities

Maintain a full understanding of the production pipeline and Current Milestone requirements.

Be aware of the teams’ role in the pipeline and those waiting on work to reach a milestone.

Be aware of potential risks to the project and bring to the attention of senior management.

Communicate effectively with Producer and all teams (i.e. Engine, Artists, Designers etc)

Maintain communication with HR, including outlining any staff problems, staffing requirements, training opportunities etc

Conduct a Master class/roundtable once a year

Maintain effective documentation, including team standards, any team issues (inc. specific examples) etc.

Review job applications and provide comment (yes/no) or score (out of 10) within 1 week

Interview applicants as required

Handle day to day management of team, including:

Monitor quality and speed of work to ensure deadlines are met

Monitor attendance/absentees

Leave applications – approval in conjunction with Producer if project requirements allow for it.

Provide regular and constructive feedback to team members

Performance feedback (required within 1 week of request)

Minor grievances and poor employee performance

Assist individual skill development

Regular meetings with team members

Animator Responsibilities

Work with the Lead Artist/Producer to schedule and keep the Animation team on track over the lifetime of the projects

Where time permits:

Setting up and creating animations

Character animation

Skin weighting of existing models

Character modeling and texturing if necessary

Lip synching and facial animation for scripted sequences

Ensure that personal and team work is meeting all standards (checking work, check-in procedures, build checklists etc)

Perform additional tasks as requested

Experience interpreting game design documentation

4 years experience in a senior animation position within a games environment.

Degree level education in animation or demonstrated equivalent

Character Modeling Responsibilities

Oversee all character modeling work undertaken by the team, to ensure that nothing ‘reaches’ the game that is not fully optimized

If time permits:

Maintain a consistent art style under direction from the Lead Artist

Optimise existing 3D models to fit within the specification or produce multiple levels of detail

Ensure that work is filed correctly using in house asset management tools

Provide high definition models for concept and marketing purposes

Create texture maps, whilst adhering to project limitations

Liaise with programming team as required
