Job Title Director of Development - Australia - RARE OPPORTUNITY!

Job Description Purpose of Role

To ensure the smooth running of a busy and growing game development studio. To manage a team of Producers across a range of projects with the ultimate goal of delivering quality titles on time and on budget. To control the HR function of the company and to ensure that the company is attracting and retaining the best available game development talent.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Management responsibility over Producers. Overarching responsibility for the Development function of the company, reporting to the GM. Ultimately responsible for the allocation of resources across all projects, and for tracking those resources and identifying requirements.

- Milestones and Deliverables. While the Producers are responsible for ensuring that milestones are met on their projects, the Director of Development must be across all external dates and deliverables for all projects.

- Scheduling. Assisting the Producers to properly schedule projects.

- HR function. Company-wide responsibility for personnel management, in collaboration with Producers. Will organize and supervise Performance Reviews, and report to GM on all HR matters, including staff performance. Coordinates and maintains recruitment and hiring process.

- Visibility & Reporting. Provide weekly Key Performance Indicator Report to GM/CEO summarizing key project issues.

- Outsourcing. Responsible for negotiating and managing any outsourcing or insourcing, both in Australia and overseas.

- Technology. Liaison with CTO re technical requirements for projects. Facilitator (where required) between CTO and Producers.

- Art. Line manager to company Art Director.

- Finance. Tracks forecasted milestone payments on a weekly basis with Finance Manager and GM.

- Systems & Infrastructure. Weekly meeting with Systems Manager re hardware, software and tools requirements.

- Publisher liaison. Where required, involvement at a project level with Publisher representatives.

- QA. Supervisory responsibility for QA department, in consultation with Producers. Line Manager to QA Lead.

- Admin. Liaises as required re company administration issues.

Experience

Essential

- Multiple years of experience at a game development role, in the position of Executive Producer or Director of Development.

- A proven track record in project management in a multiple team studio.

Desirable

- Tertiary qualification in related field.
