Job Profile: 

Due to our continued success and growth, we now require an experienced Web Developer to work as part of our in-house technology team on new and exciting projects, maintaining and extending our existing websites, and supporting our global editorial and sales teams. 

The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic, adaptable all-rounder with high standards, good diagnostic skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and with diplomacy. 

Required Skills and Experience: 

To be considered, you will need to demonstrate fluency with: 

  • PHP
  • SQL (specifically MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • HTML, CSS
  • Manipulating XML with XSLT and DOM


We would also like to see experience with most of the following: 

  • SQL query optimisation
  • Javascript and common client-side libraries (jQuery, prototype)
  • Version control systems (preferably Git and/or SVN) in a team context
  • Deploying code on linux, working with bash/cron, etc.
  • Common web development patterns such as MVC


Desirable Skills and Experience: 

Experience of the following would also enhance your application but is not essential. 

  • Wordpress
  • Python
  • Memcache/Redis and caching techniques
  • Localisation
  • Responsive design


A strong academic background in Computer Science or a relevant subject is prefered, and an interest in videogames is highly beneficial.
