| Job Description | We are managing Sony Computer Entertainment's development recruitment in the UK. Their Cambridge Studio, renowned for action adventure games, has won major acclaim for past releases, such as MediEvil, Primal, Ghost Hunter and 24. We are looking for an intermediate to senior level programmer (dependent on experience) to contribute to the studio’s ongoing PLAYSTATION®3 and PSP development. The ideal candidate would be broadly experienced across all domains of game development - core technology, tools and game-play implementation - though we expect the bulk of the successful candidate’s responsibilities to lie with game code delivery. As such, the candidate will already have experience on at least one shipped title, and be well versed in working closely with other disciplines with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strongly self-motivated, the candidate will be able to refine design documentation into achievable goals, contribute to the ongoing design process, and be aware of vocational issues that may impact timely, successful delivery of the product. The candidate will be required to have demonstrable competence in C++/C and should be aware of 'best practice' programming techniques for these languages. Experience with other programming languages/environments such as Power/MIPS assembly or C# would be advantageous (though not required). While we are not looking solely for a technology specialist, the candidate should, however, demonstrate a thorough appreciation of technical implementation issues, and be able both to select and integrate suitable existing software components, and also to design and implement new technology as required. Prior experience with PLAYSTATION®3 or PSP development would be desirable, but not essential. Similarly we would be particularly interested in candidates who can augment general development skills with specific knowledge in cutting-edge rendering techniques or networking. Skills may include some of maths, physics, 3D, graphics, direct x, renderware, tools, plugins, AI, C++, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC, PSP, Unix, SDKs, OpenGL, MFC, Server, SQL, COM and .Net |
