Job Description Based in the North East this studio has made a smooth transition from successful independent to becoming the sole UK developer for one of the world's biggest multi-national publisher/developers, with the combination of innovation and security that this implies.
o Location: Newcastle,

o Hierarchy and reporting lines:
Reports to the ATG Leads and Tech Directors

o Role overview:

The Tools Programmer is responsible for creating, improving and maintaining the studio’s content creation toolset. The role will involve working closely with designers and artists to gather requirements, design, implement, test, and roll out tools which meet or exceed their expectations

Functional responsibilities:
- Design and implementation of tools within the advanced technology group
- Maintenance of the existing Unreal Engine based toolset

Skills required:
- Proficient in C++
- Demonstrable problem solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Experienced with technical design and documentation
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices
- Ability to write clear maintainable portable code

Skills desired:
- Unreal engine and/or UnrealScript experience.
- Knowledge of Xbox 360 or PS3 console development.
- Experience with 3DS Max, Maya or Motion Builder plugins.

Education and experience:
- Good Bachelors degree in a relevant subject (Computer Science, Physics,
Maths)
- 3 years commercial experience with GUI based tools development

Person specification:
- Enthusiasm for on-going learning and development
- Good self-organizational abilities
- Self motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision

Salary ?25K- ?38K DOE
