Job Description
An independent developer that is working on projects with a number of AAA publishers and is focused on creating innovative titles with a wide appeal, is currently looking for a talented, highly creative individual to head up the art team on an exciting new project.

They believe that there is a video game for everyone and that there is a great opportunity to grow the market by targeting non-serious gamers with games they will enjoy!

As an Art Manager, you will be a highly skilled and experienced member of staff, with proven industry experience. In addition to standard artist skills, you will also need to have proven expertise and a track record of high achievement.

You will be an important member of the art team and the role will require you to work supporting the art director leading all art creation within the studio. Responsibilities will include:

* Resource planning, allocation of artists across studio
* Monitoring overall studio artist requirements
* Organisation of artist recruitment
* Point of contact for external dealings including outsourcing and liaising with other studios
* Milestone review and signoff
* Management of artist mentoring, to include development of internal training in conjunction with the Art Director and Technical Art Director
* Risk planning and mitigation, ensuring that artistic and technical issues on projects are resolved
* Implementing solutions to the most challenging problems on projects
* New project planning

Essential Skills:

* Proven man management skills
* Experience of artist recruitment
* Experience of artist development and mentoring methods
* Experience of working with outsourcers
* Up to date knowledge of game art techniques
* Excellence in game art tools – Maya and Photoshop
* Asset management – Perforce (or similar)
* Excellent understanding of asset generation and relevance to platform
* Complete understanding of art work flows & best practices
* Able to work independently
* Passion for computer games
* Great verbal and written communication skills
