Senior / Lead Animator required to establish new team (Midlands)

Job Description A well established games development studio with a background in working on genres as diverse as flight simulation, car racing, retro gaming, and arcade coin-op is currently going through a period of expansion. Having recently completed a Wii racing title, the team is now going to focus on character based games with an emphasis on gameplay.

The studio is working on a number of titles for most popular console / handheld gaming platforms and is looking for an experienced animator to establish a new department and set the animation style for an upcoming project.

As a senior / lead animator, you will play a key role in leading the animation work on a new Wii title. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a compact team on new IP; you will have the opportunity to have a big impact on this and future projects.

The successful candidate will have a ‘hands on’ role overseeing the animation for the entire project from prototype to final game, working alongside the existing art team to give a coherent art style.

Required experience and skills:

* Proven industry experience;
* Strong artistic flare, with excellent 2D and 3D skills;
* Modelling, rigging and animation with an sound understanding of anatomy;
* Experience of setting up in-game animations as well as intro/cut scene sequences;
* Excellent knowledge of Photoshop and Maya/Max;
* Excellent time management and organizational abilities;
* Experience of team management, with excellent verbal and written communication skills

The following would be seen as advantageous:

* Any knowledge of particle effects and special effects;
* Experience of dealing with outsource and freelance developers
