The Programmer is responsible for contributing a high quality of programming on their specific project and must be willing to take direction from the Lead Programmer/Technical Director regarding specific technical issues.

The programmer is responsible for reporting to the Lead Programmer/Technical Director, keeping them informed of technical progress as well as suggesting any improvements that will aid development.

A key aspect of this role is that the Programmer strives to improve their programming skill level and implement ways to push the technical features of the project under direction from their Lead Programmer.

The Programmer must also be able to work as part of a team and take advice from other Programmers who may have more experience in certain areas of programming, in relation to video game development.

The Programmer will work on many aspects of console development using existing sub-systems such as networking, rendering, physics and front-end user interface.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must possess a high level of programming skills - this is a crucial requirement. The Programmer must have a strong background in programming, ideally relating to video game development.
Very strong C++ with exposure to Design Patterns, STL with solid engineering techniques.
Experience with console development preferably on PS3 and/or Xbox360.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to give and receive constructive feedback.
Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent troubleshooting abilities and/or the resourcefulness to obtain solutions.
Remain ‘up-to-date’ on all aspects of cutting edge programming as it relates to the video game industry.
Willing to learn and be open to new ideas. The candidate must be adaptable and be able to pick up new skills quickly.
Video game experience - playing games as well as programming games.
Must have worked on at least one published title.
Assisting the Lead Programmer in the induction of newly hired programmers as required, providing them with a complete overview and hands-on familiarisation of the company programming procedures prior to being assigned to a working team.
