Audio Systems Programmer

Job Description My Client, based in the North East has an excellent reputation for producing highly successful games over nearly 20 years. They are now owned by a major international publisher and are looking to expand their teams working on titles for next gen consoles.

The successful candidate will join the game software engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and will be responsible for implementing features relating to all aspects of in-game audio.

You will understand the importance of audio in games and will be passionate about pursuing a career as an audio programmer.This role will involve evaluating and working with middleware solutions.

Responsibilities

• Implement practical and timely solutions that meet the game design and technical requirements.
• Maintain, refactor and improve existing solutions.
• Work as a part of an agile development team, taking responsibility for organising and planning your own work.

Requirements:
• Passionate about playing and making games.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant subject, or equivalent knowledge gained through work.
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills.
• Game development experience on major home consoles or PC. At least 1 published title preferred.
• Knowledge of audio signal processing - mixing, sample rates, data compression, filters, reverbs, 3D positional audio, etc.
• Experience with multi-channel audio (5.1 etc.) and 3D positional audio (done both in software and hardware such as Creative Labs EAX).
