Overview of the job:

The ideal candidate will report to the Senior Game Mathematician inside of my client's internal games production studio. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for working closely with the developers on their program to assist with the evaluation, verification, and preparation of game engine and mathematical model designs for real money gaming (RMG).

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

. Reviewing game engine and mathematics proposals for correctness, completeness, and viability.
. Determining whether game specifications are complete and ready to pass over to development for game implementation. If they are not, you may liaise with the game creators to request additional information or do what is required to bring them up to the final standard.
. Understanding how to test a wide variety of math models for correctness and be prepared to assist engineers to find and eliminate any errors that are found.
. Creating, evaluating, and refining game design specifications, math models and par sheets. This includes having an eye for spotting issues and providing / recommending solutions as to how they may be fixed.
. Supporting the mathematic outcome generation for various online/mobile game types, including (but not limited to) slots, table (card & dice) games and video poker.
. Ensuring that the implemented games perform mathematically as expected by comparing their run statistics with those calculated in specifications as to assure they comply with jurisdictional regulations.
. Analysing products for advantage play and abuse, proposing ways in which these risks might be mitigated or eliminated.
. Working to develop and support software for simulations in cases where par sheets alone do not validate the math models.
. Participating in blue sky discussions about potential games and opportunities in the RMG market and critique other games within the studio and in the market place.

Required Skills & Experience:

. Have 3+ years of experience developing or evaluating math models used in RMG.
. Have a passion for games and an eye for what makes them fun and intriguing. In particular, they should be able to look at a mathematical model and determine whether the game is fun and will appeal to players.
. Be educated to degree level, with proficiency in mathematics, especially probability and statistics.
. Be an Excel wizard.
. Be able to do basic programming, with an emphasis in probabilistic algorithms and be able to read, edit, and adapt existing code.
. Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to balance the needs and priorities of multiple projects simultaneously.
. The ability to professionally work with internal and external design teams in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

. Understanding of the software development process.

. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate results of analyses to others.
