Job Description Lead Network Programmer – Next Gen - £50 - 60k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

We are working exclusively with a leading games studio based in the North East / Midlands area who are looking for a Lead Network Programmer to come in and be responsible for their clients network engine and integration with console game service API's. The Lead Programmer will be the main focus for all network related codebase for their New IP for Next Generation consoles.

The Lead Network Programmer must be able to demonstrate a high standard in C/C++ , as well as excellent debugging and problem solving skills, a broad understanding of networking systems , including NAT and experience of game-side network.

Lead Network Programmer responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain software to aid testing and debugging of Networked games
• Working from requirements to write and debug network code in C/C++
• Develop and maintain software to aid testing and debugging of Networked games
• Synchronize the entities of their games, communicating with, and creating, servers and peers alike, as well as helping to advance the state of networking to ensure they remain at the forefront of industry developments in these areas
• Ensure our code base remains in a networkable state.

Key Skills
• Excellent C++ Programming skills
• Experience of UDP/TCP IP protocols
• Excellent knowledge of networking challenges; asynchronous programming,
• Have the personal skills and the desire to work as part of a team
• Be able to communicate clearly especially when relating to technical issues
• Demonstrate a keen interest and up to date and technologies

Advantage:
• Thorough understanding of networking systems - DNS, NAT, Firewalls, Security Methods
• Online Game APIs (such as Xbox Live, PSN, Steam)
