My client are a well respected developer based in the heart of the Midlands. They have a stable foundation and have a reputation for delivering quality titles on time and to budget. This vacancy is for a game programmer with experience of online games development, preferably using Xbox Live.

Description:

The Programmer is responsible for implementing game code under the direction of the Technical Manager, as well as maintaining their own and existing code. Together with the other programmers they contribute to all technical aspects of game development.

Directly reporting to:
• Technical Manager

Expectations:
• Implement game code using C/C++ developing new IP at the studio across multiple platforms from iOS, Android through desktop to console.
• Profile, debug and maintain existing game code
• Work with the Technical Manager and programmers to design the game code and contribute to technical design documents
• Use our own internal tools to set up technical framework for game levels
• Assist in preparing milestone builds as required

Essential Qualities:
• A high level of computer literacy
• General C/C++ skills required
• Experience of coding on PC’s with Direct 3D/OpenGL or similar API’s a preference, but not required
• Console programming experience preferred • Good debugging skills are a plus
• Knowledge of current game coding techniques such as collision, memory management, AI and culling an advantage
• Formal qualifications are not required if the applicant possesses the appropriate knowledge and experience
• Mature professional attitude and work ethic
