|Job Description||My client is one of the biggest names in the Video games industry.
This role is to work at their London studio who have already developed a number of innovative and titles that make the most of current console User Interactivity features.
They have a mission to create innovative and market leading games with broad market appeal, focussed on social-group, or family-based, play and entertainment.
They are looking for a talented and highly motivated game-play programmer, to join their world-class development team working on their next generation of titles.
You’ll be joining a small, multi-discipline team very early in the process of creating new experiences, and will help to define all aspects of the game code and design. At London Studio, artists, designers and coders work together and define their own schedule and priorities, in a truly creative environment with lots of exciting opportunities and plenty of responsibility.
You will be encouraged to manage your own time, make decisions for yourself and above all have fun in a very creative environment.
The role involves:
o Prototyping new gameplay mechanics and exploring new creative ideas.
o Designing, developing, documenting, testing and maintaining highly accessible game-play features in collaboration with other programmers, designers and artists.
o Design and development of new game systems, and implementing game content.
o Troubleshooting game-play related issues throughout the team.
o Continuously striving to deliver a highly entertaining interactive experience.
o Tackling feature based associated work subject to experience/ability e.g. high level graphics, applied physics, animation, online integration, audio, etc.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
o Excellent C++ programming skills. Proficiency in maths and 3D geometry. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
o Robust software engineering and software architecture principles. Experience of working with and interfacing to a large codebase, including systems such as: graphics, physics, animation, audio, and networking.
o Objective profiling, analysis and optimisation skills. A methodical approach to debugging.
o Passion and aptitude for practical game-play development. Experience of working in small focussed work groups, and interfacing with a large multi-discipline team. Excellent communication skills.
o Broad understanding of all areas of game-play mechanics. With an in depth knowledge in at least one area of game-play. Experience of game prototyping and rapid iteration on creative ideas.
There will be advantage to candidates who can demonstrate:
o PS3, PC or Xbox360, or mobile/tablet applications and games.
o A successful shipped console title or mobile/tablet application gaining critical acclaim.
o Experience of using third party middleware in a game production environment, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, CryEngine, Havok, Maya.
o C# language skills. Scripting language experience, such as LUA, Java-script.
o Familiarity with development software and tools, such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Perforce, SN-Debugger, Hansoft.
