Job Description Japanese Translation Lead

Our client is looking for a highly motivated, proactive and ambitious individual with experience within the games and translation industries. Good organizational and communication skills should be combined with the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines. A “hands on”, flexible attitude is a must. Previous Sales and Marketing experience would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor the quality of Japanese translations provided by third-parties.
• Translate videogame content into Japanese where necessary.
• Monitor the quality of Japanese translations provided by third-parties.
• Prepare terminology lists.
• Prepare files for translation.
• Review documents and prepare Q&A file.
• Maintain good relationship with Suppliers.
• Assist Games QA Localization Coordinators when necessary.
• Act as the liaison between the UK Games Operations and Japanese clients’ QA points of contact.
• Translate Game testing instructions from Japanese to English and liaise with internal QA Localization Coordinators to ensure the correct instructions are followed by the testing teams.
• Translate end of day Testing reports from English to Japanese and liaise with internal testing team to ensure the correct feedback is passed on to Japanese clients’ QA points of contact.
• Must be willing to commit to long and anti-social hours (possibility of shift work).

Requirements:
• Fluency in Japanese and English with a Game testing background.
• Minimum 2 years Translation Management or Translation experience from English into Japanese (5 years experience preferred).
• Experience working in the Games Industry & a passion for games.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
• Proven decision making ability under pressure.
• Flexibility to multitask between QA Localization and translation, maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
• Clear communications skills (verbal and written).
• Capable of leading teams.
• Use of standard business software applications.
• PC hardware literate.
• Strong knowledge of format holders’ requirements.
• Knowledge of bug databases.
• Knowledge of Translation Memory (TM) applications.
• Knowledge of Terminology Management and Compliance.
