World Cyber Games 2008

Multiplay, organisers of the UK’s largest multiplayer gaming events for over 10 years, are pleased to formally announce the launch of the World Cyber Games 2008 UK finals at their M Festival event this summer. M Festival is the most ambitious computer and video games event ever to be held in the UK and is the complete festival of gaming. It takes place at Stoneleigh Park from 8th - 11th August 2008.

The M Festival is staging the UK qualifiers and finals of the world’s largest computer game tournament, the World Cyber Games – the fourth time Multiplay have hosted the competition. With over one million players taking part worldwide anyone can join in and win the chance to represent the UK at the Grand Final this November in Germany.

The UK is entering teams in eleven games this year featuring Counter-Strike 1.6, FIFA '08, Need for Speed: Pro Street, Age of Empires 3, Command & Conquer 3, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft on the PC. Console gamers can compete in Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 4 and Virtual Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360. New for this year is Guitar Hero 3 on the Xbox 360 which is expected to attract large numbers of competitors.

Samsung, worldwide partner of the WCG, are also attending with their own stand showcasing the very latest in hi-tech electronics. On their stand any eligible gamers can turn up and play in selected World Cyber Games tournaments, regardless of previous experience.

Online qualifiers for the WCG are open for registration until Friday 6th June and will run from Sunday 8th June until Tuesday 15th July. All entrants wishing to qualify online must have registered by 18:00 on Friday 6th June 2008 to allow for match scheduling. Players can register at http://wcg.multiplay.co.uk/2008/registration/.

Gamers may also qualify at the M Festival itself where successful entrants will then go on to compete in the UK finals in front of packed crowds in our 500-capacity finals arena.
