Wired publisher acquires Ars Technica
Conde Naste Publications has acquired technology news website Ars Technica, with plans to combine operations with tech magazine Wired.
Co-founder of Ars Technica Ken Fisher will remain editor-in-chief, and the site will continue to function as an independent unit according to the Associated Press.
Ars Technica was founded in 1998 by Fisher and Jon Stokes and will be joining other publications owned by the big publisher - including Vanity Fair, Vogue and the New Yorker.
Conde Nast acquired Wired magazine - but not the digital assets associated with it - in 1998. The digital assets were sold to Lycos, who owned them until Conde Nast paid USD 25 million for the sites in 2006.
