Wii to pass Xbox 360 by June in US

Nintendo of America president predicts Super Smash Bros Brawl effect

Nintendo's Wii console, which has been outselling other formats all over the world in the past year or so, should pass the total installed base in the US of the Xbox 360 by June.

That's according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, speaking to Bloomberg, who believes that the already stellar sales will be helped even further by key software launches in the region, such as Wii Fit and Super Smash Bros Brawl.

In the past couple of days the company's share price on the Tokyo Stock Exchange has risen from a low point at the beginning of February at around JPY 47,000 (USD 438.6 / EUR 295.7) to JPY 54,100 (USD 504.9 / EUR 340.4) at close today - a jump of around 15 per cent.
