Valve to roll out Steam Cloud services this week

Services begin with Left 4 Dead, and will be available to all publishers and developers

Valve is set to roll out the latest functions for its market leading Steam delivery platform this week.

Steam Cloud saves users options and details online for better player consistency, and can be accessed from any Steam-enabled PC.

"For some time now, Steam has allowed gamers to log on from any computer in the world and access their applications. This also makes it easy to upgrade a PC without worrying about losing your games," commented Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve.

"Steam Cloud is a natural extension of the portability Steam affords gamers and developers, and we intend to expand its feature set as it is used in Left 4 Dead and other games coming to Steam."

Steam Cloud functions will be available to all publishers and developers using the service at no extra cost, with Valve intending to add functionality to the Steam back catalogue over time. Cloud services will also be compatible with games purchased at retail and other digital methods.
