Ubisoft sales up 52 per cent

Haze release delayed to Q4

Ubisoft has announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, with sales up 52 per cent to 261.4 million euro.

Gross profits for H1 were 167.6 million euro, up from 102.2 million during the first half of the 2006-07 fiscal year. Net income was 30.6 million euro, compared to a loss of 20.5 million during the same period of the prior year.

"Ubisoft's excellent sales performance during the first half of fiscal 2007-08 has considerably boosted our earnings figures for the period," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

"In addition, the early indications for our Christmas game launches have been positive, especially for Assassin's Creed, whose sell-through sales have already topped the record level of 1 million units.

"These very strong trends further underpin our confidence that we will achieve our objectives for the current year and add further impetus for fiscal 2008-09, which we expect to be another year of robust growth for the Group."

Games for the current generation of hardware now represent 75 per cent of Ubisoft's overall sales, as compared to 39 per cent the prior year.

The company confirmed its outlook for the third quarter and the remainder of the year, forecasting sales of 330 million euro in Q3 and 825 million euro by the end of fiscal 2007-08.

Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 would be released in Q4 2007-08.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, originally scheduled for a Q4 release, was moved to fiscal 2008-09. Haze, originally scheduled for a Q3 release, has been moved to Q4 which ends March 31, 2008.
