THQ opens new office for Vigil team

Team to continue work on Warhammer MMO and Darksiders at new Austin studio

Publisher THQ is to open a new 33,000 square foot office for its Vigil Studio in Austin, Texas.

The Vigil team will move into the new location this autumn, where it will continue work on Darksiders and a massively multiplayer online game based on the Warhammer 40,000 brand.

"THQ has signed a lease for 33,000 square feet in the Four Points Centre to house its Vigil Games development studio," the company told Kotaku. "We are very excited about the strong development talent at Vigil Games and we view Austin as a great location to attract employees engaged in videogame development."

THQ is currently in the process of reviving its business, and has scored two hits this year with UFC 2009: Undisputed and Red Faction: Guerilla.

Earlier this year the publisher cut around 600 jobs reducing its headcount by almost a quarter, and sold off internal team Big Huge Games to 38 Studios.
