Square Enix to publish Modern Warfare 2 in Japan

Publisher takes over publishing duties for game, due for release this winter

Square Enix is to publish Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 across Japan later this year, the company has confirmed.

Last week a publishing deal for the game's distribution in Japan was hinted at when an internet teaser site bearing the '2' in its logo appeared online.

Square has now confirmed it has signed a deal with Activision Blizzard to publish the game on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in Japan.

The game, it says, will be released this winter. Modern Warfare 2 is slated for a November 10 release across Europe. The publisher is also handling the Platinum Collection release of the original Modern Warfare in Japan.
