A spokesperson for SCE UK has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that sales boss Kevin Jowett has left the company to look for new opportunities elsewhere.

The confirmation came after trade publication MCV reported that Jowett had resigned, and had left Sony immediately for reasons of confidentiality.

Speaking to GI.biz Sony's David Wilson said, "He's resigned to pursue new opportunities outside of the industry."

He added, "We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Jowett became sales director in 1998 and is a well-known figure in the industry, particularly within the retail community. It's not yet clear how his resignation might affect Sony's plans for the European launch of PlayStation 3, which is now less than six weeks away.
