Sins of a Solar Empire sells 500k

Stardock's Sins of a Solar Empire has sold over 500,000 units through traditional retail and digital distribution methods, according to Gamasutra.

The title cost less than USD 1 million to develop but has recently exceeded 400,000 units sold at retail stores, and a further 100,000 units sold via digital distribution.

"Sins of a Solar Empire was explicitly designed to work on a wide variety of machines... It will run on a four-year-old video card, and it looks great," said Stardock CEO Brad Wardell.

"You make those kinds of design decisions, and you greatly increase the number of people who can play your game. You lose out on some piddly super-mega effect, but you get those units. The results come in sales."
