Sharing ideas is vital for UK industry, says Livingstone
Ian Livingstone, Eidos' creative director, has warned that the UK gaming industry must get together and share ideas if it hopes to compete with the rest of the world.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about his decision to act as chairman for the GameHorizon Conference, Livingstone explained that the UK needed the event to halt the decline of the region's industry.
"The GameHorizon Conference is an ambitious new event with the objective of sharing knowledge about how the games industry can grow and develop. It is the only UK conference aimed primarily at games executives," Livingstone said.
"The UK has been a world leader in games development for over 20 years but today faces challenges in a very competitive global industry. Everybody is aware that the UK has now slipped from 3rd to 4th in world development terms. To maintain its creative and competitive edge, it is vital that the industry's key players come together to share new ways of thinking and practices."
Taking place June 18 and 19 in Newcastle, the GameHorizon Conference will host sessions by industry leaders such as Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades, Epic's Mark Rein and Microsoft's Chris Satchell.
