Gollum actor backs Cambridge collective

Andy Serkis will help launch Games Eden next week, the East of England's first business network for the computer games industry.

The King Kong and Lord of the Rings actor will be one of the guest speakers at the event, joined by Frontier boss David Braben and TIGA CEO Fred Hasson.

"The benefits of Games Eden include delivery of a local developer led networking group, membership of TIGA, raising the profile of local creative digital talent and better access to strategic information and assistance," said Jeremy Cooke, chair of Games Eden.

Games Eden is funded by EEDA, EEI, Screen East and FDMX with support from Cambridge Wireless, TIGA, EMMA, Gamesware Development, Zoonami, Geomerics, Sony, Jagex, Nicetech and Ninja Theory.

"In a region with massive expertise in feature film and television production we are delighted to help ensure the growth of the computer games sector," added Laurie Hayward, CEO of Screen East.

Games Eden will launch December 5, at New Hall, Buckingham House, Cambridge.

GamesIndustry.biz is the world's most read and influential games industry website. But don't just take our word for it!

"GamesIndustry.biz is one of my starting tabs when I boot up... so it's always one of the first sites I see each day. It's good being able to catch up with what's happened in the US overnight, and in the UK before I'm awake first thing, and know that the stories will be accurate and thought out."
