Screen Digest acquires Adams

Deal brings US market analysis company under the umbrella

Media intelligence firm Screen Digest has announced the acquisition of California-based Adams Media Research for an undisclosed amount of cash and Screen Digest stock.

The two companies had previously enjoyed a collaborative relationship which saw them share data and analysis on home video intelligence, and post-merger the companies will co-operate on their other key areas of expertise, including videogames, TV, cinema, mobile and broadband.

Screen Digest's managing director Allan Hardy commented on his belief that now the company would be able to meet increasing demand for information on entertainment markets more effectively.

"This is a hugely significant deal for both companies at a crucial time in the sector. Media players across the world are experiencing changes of seismic proportions and we now offer more expertise, more data, and broader geographic coverage to assist them in running their businesses than anyone else."

Screen Digest recently announced the publication of a new report, called Games Bulletin, and analyst Ed Barton recently gave his comments to GamesIndustry.biz on the impact of Wii hardware shortages.
