SCi acquires Rockpool Games
SCi has acquired Manchester-based mobile developer Rockpool Games.
Sci has acquired Manchester-based mobile developer Rockpool Games.
The moves strengthens SCi's move into mobile and casual gaming, and gives the publisher access to Rockpool's two sister companies — Ironstone Partners and SoGoPlay — as well as the Top Trumps licence.
"We believe that the global market for mobile games is set to grow considerably over the next few years from around US $3 billion in 2006 to US $10 billion in 2009, and that casual games are also becoming increasingly important," said Jane Cavanagh, chief executive of SCi.
"Rockpool's breadth of activity, including not only mobile games but casual PC games, fits well with SCi's strategy to expand the company's business in this direction and will strengthen our position in these consistently growing markets," she added.
Rockpool has previously worked on gaming brands Worms, MotoGP and Toca Race Driver for mobile. Ironstone Partners is the company's licensing division, while SoGoPlay focuses on the casual PC gaming market.
