Rockstar officially confirms closure of Vienna studio

Former employees to be offered new positions 'where possible'

Rockstar has officially confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that its Austrian development studio, Rockstar Vienna, has been closed - but added that some employees will be offered new jobs within the company.

Rumours of the closure began to emerge earlier today, with one Rockstar Vienna employee breaking the news in a blog posting.

This morning, a Rockstar spokesperson told GI.biz: "Yes, we can confirm the studio was closed on Thursday."

"Employees will be offered packages in accordance with Austrian law, as well as other job opportunities within Take-Two and Rockstar Games where possible."
